Bright Butterflies - Pre-school
Our Preschool room has a great team of experienced and highly trained staff to stimulate young minds and support the children in every way.
Children are encouraged to achieve the Early Learning Goals through structured play, group, and individually planned activities, and a planned environment which provides many opportunities for exploration and learning.
Skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, an understanding of mathematical concepts in addition to music and computer based activities help form a positive start for each child, and prepare them for school. Ensuring the very best start for your child, and peace of mind for you.
Funded early learning for three and four year olds
With government funding available for children over 3 we are able to offer education for children until they are 5 years of age with the added bonus of wrap around care from 08:00 - 18:00, for busy parents who are working.
Healthy eating
Meals are cooked daily on the premises by our resident catering manager using wherever possible fresh locally sourced ingredients. Our menu is designed to encourage "healthy eating", with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Transitions to school
We have fantastic links with all of our local primary schools. Once you have your school place confirmed our staff invite the reception teacher to come along and visit your child in our setting. This is a really beneficial visit as they can familiarise themselves with your child within a setting that your child is relaxed within. key staff will also take the opportunity to share key information about your child wiht the teacher- interests, likes, dislikes, their development and how they like to play.
We also have a box of uniform items from all of the schools so that the children can try them on, dress up in them and become familiar with them.
Our Uniform
Summer 2017 we introduced a uniform to our preschool room. We feel this will support your childs' transition to school. It is optional but will also save your little ones clothes and we think they look great!

Starting your journey at Woodpeckers
Making your choice for your child's care and education is very important. We understand that this choice needs to be considered carefully. Early years settings all offer different things. Here at Woodpeckers we pride ourselves on our family run setting that creates a nurturing environment for your little ones to grow and develop within.

Making your decision depends on a feeling that you get for somewhere. Let us give you a personal tour of our setting where we will tell you all about Woodpeckers. You can meet the staff, view our rooms, see our outdoor area and take the opportunity to ask us questions. Your children are welcome to accompany you too. Please call us to arrange a viewing.
What happens next?
We will invite you to attend an introduction visit and arrange settling visits. Home visits are also offered. Each child is different as to how they settle but we work with you to ensure this happens in the best way for you all.
We work using the key person approach. Each child deserves to have a special relationship with someone within the nursery and the key person approach effectively celebrates this. It provides you and your child with a sense of security. We will allocate a key person after initial visits to our setting.
Reassurance
We know that it is hard to leave your little ones but you can always stay in touch with us. We also record snapshots and observations of how your child has settled, plays and develops with us through electronic learning journals. These allow you and your family to see what they get up to when they are with us. Daily diaries are completed and travel to and from nursery with your child. Most importantly, it is our partnership with you, the parents and carers. We strive to create trusting relationships and great communication so that we can best support your child's journey with us.
