Busy Bees - Baby

Day care places are available for your little ones with dedicated staff caring for their individual needs and encouraging development through the Early Years Foundation Stage, within a loving, homely environment.

A broad array of equipment and individual activities with encouraging guidance give a positive start on life's ladder.

On fair weather days the Busy Bees staff take advantage of the Sudbury Water Meadows and wonder down with the babies to enjoy the fresh air and the local wildlife!

Starting on life's ladder

Woodpeckers Nursery is set on the edge of Sudbury in Suffolk beside the water meadows, in a Georgian style building fully adapted to provide a happy, secure and caring environment to help your child's development at every stage.

As a family concern both Jeff and Deirdre, the proprietors of Woodpeckers, take an active part in the day to day running of the nursery. They like to be on hand to meet parents and children, and help form the working relationship which will support your child through to school age and beyond.

Your baby & medical care

We strive to deal with any medical problems your child may have. We work alongside doctors and medical health professionals as well as taking on extra training for staff if this is needed. This would also involve working closely with parents and carers.

Breast feeding & weaning

In the day care baby room we actively encourage mums to continue breast feeding if they wish to do so. If work is close by then mum can pop in for a feed before returning to work or visit during a lunch break. We have excellent links with the Health Centre where BFN supporters are on hand with advice.

A homely environment

The babies are cared for and nurtured in a very cosy environment that has been designed to feel like a home from home. Warm lighting, comfortable bedding, soft toys and loving staff all make for an ideal setting for your baby in day care.

As baby grows

Although each baby has a key person all staff work very closely together with all the babies. As they grow each baby will move to the Curious Caterpillars room (after lots of settling visits) at their own pace. There is no set age, only when they are ready together with the parents.

Starting your journey at Woodpeckers

Making your choice for your child's care and education is very important. We understand that this choice needs to be considered carefully. Early years settings all offer different things. Here at Woodpeckers we pride ourselves on our family run setting that creates a nurturing environment for your little ones to grow and develop within.

Come and see our setting

Making your decision depends on a feeling that you get for somewhere. Let us give you a personal tour of our setting where we will tell you all about Woodpeckers. You can meet the staff, view our rooms, see our outdoor area and take the opportunity to ask us questions. Your children are welcome to accompany you too. Please call us to arrange a viewing.

What happens next?

We will invite you to attend an introduction visit and arrange settling visits. Home visits are also offered. Each child is different as to how they settle but we work with you to ensure this happens in the best way for you all.

We work using the key person approach. Each child deserves to have a special relationship with someone within the nursery and the key person approach effectively celebrates this. It provides you and your child with a sense of security. We will allocate a key person after initial visits to our setting.

Reassurance

We know that it is hard to leave your little ones but you can always stay in touch with us. We also record snapshots and observations of how your child has settled, plays and develops with us through electronic learning journals. These allow you and your family to see what they get up to when they are with us. Daily diaries are completed and travel to and from nursery with your child. Most importantly, it is our partnership with you, the parents and carers. We strive to create trusting relationships and great communication so that we can best support your child's journey with us.
