Our family run nursery incorporates a home from home environment that is nurturing but also stimulates and encourages children's curious minds. Our beautiful Suffolk day nursery offers a calming but stimulating environment, a place for children to explore, develop and learn.
Here at Woodpeckers we are passionate about incorporating a child's family into the learning experience. We are committed to encouraging a creative, confident and intelligent child. We welcome children from all backgrounds and focus on supporting and facilitating harmony and development of socialisation skills.
We encourage families to have an active role in their child's learning experience. Daily conversations, written daily diaries, and online learning journals are part of our day to day practice which allows us to use your ideas and discussions in our documentation.
Our staff support and facilitate your child's learning through observing and listening closely. They guide and support experiences in order to deepen their understanding of the world around them and discover ways of working together with others. Our key person scheme allows staff to tune in to your child's individual needs and interests and plan how to further support your child's learning and development.
We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.
We have long opening hours to cater for busy working families and we stay open all year round, including school holidays.
Let us accommodate all of your childcare needs. We will be as flexible as we can within our opening hours so that we can meet your needs. We offer full days, morning and afternoon sessions as well as an hourly rate.
We offer a fantastic range of rich, challenging, and inviting activities. Our aim is to help our children become strong, independent and confident individuals to give them the best start in life.
Here at Woodpeckers we carefully select staff for their qualifications, experience and their empathy with children. All of our staff holds an enhanced DBS disclosures and full first aid training. We have two Early Years Teachers and further staff who are educated to degree level.
Mealtimes at Woodpeckers are an enjoyable and social event at which children and adults eat together. This is also a great learning opportunity for understanding where our food comes from, healthy choices, independence, sharing and manners.
We offer a weekly music and movement sessions with Cheeky Chimps Music and our preschool room also enjoy a French lesson once a week.
Woodpeckers work in partnership with parents to ensure children feel welcome, happy, safe and secure. We recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children.
Our onsite minibus allows us to access woodland areas nearby our setting. We also link up with a local Primary school which allows us to use their secure field and forest area. Our staff are trained in Forest Schools and run weekly sessions with small groups of children. We also organise outings to extend the children’s learning through different experiences.
Our flexible hours allow you to only book the childcare that you require. You are only charged for the hours that you need. We accept childcare vouchers and discounts for NHS staff. We offer FREE childcare for all three and four year olds. There are also funded places available for two year olds if you are eligible.
“I cannot recommend ‘Peckers’, as my daughter calls it, highly enough. She cries if we drive past and don't drop her off. Every single staff member is so kind and friendly, fabulous place.”
